A comprehensive Art/Technology curriculum is provided at Oberon High School where specialist facilities are available. Art/Technology subjects are studied by all students up to year 10 and are in accordance with statewide requirements related to Curriculum Standards Framework.

Year 7 & 8

Beyond Year 8

Music and Drama

Instrumental Music

Year 7 & 8 students study these subjects in rotation over two years:

  • Painting
  • Visual Communication and Design
  • Woodcraft
  • Systems
  • Ceramics
  • Garments/Textiles
  • Food
  • Drama
  • Metalcraft
  • Music

An elective program operates in years 9 and 10 where computer graphics, electronics, photography and media are introduced. Students select two subjects per semester from the complete range offered.

Music and drama are part of the Art/technology rotation in Year 7 and 8 and during this time students explore a broad variety of musical and dramatic activities aimed at providing students with an appreciation of these disciplines as well as developing relevant skills. These subjects are also available as electives in year 9 and 10, leading on to VCE Units.

Any Student is eligible to undertake lessons in a musical instrument under our specialist part-time staff. The areas currently available are woodwind, brass, some percussion and guitar. Students also can study keyboard, drums and violin.

Many students are involved in the school band, school choir, the annual school production, and the very popular Oberon Arts night held later in the year.

Students also perform at general assemblies, the annual Awards Day ceremony and a variety of community events.

Various activities are arranged throughout the year to encourage both music and dramatic performances and participation.
