Careers’ education is part of the general school curriculum, but is given greater emphasis in year 10 where students participate in a course that encourages them to consider a wide range of career options and develops their employability skills.

Students can access a wide range of career focused computer programs on the school network. Audio-visual material is available for use in class work and for individual assignments. Assistance with resume and application writing and experience in interview techniques is also provided for those students applying for employment.

The year 10 Work Experience program is a valuable aspect of learning about preparing for the workforce. The school is always keen to increase contacts in industry and commerce to benefit the students. Students are encouraged to seek out the services available from the Careers’ teacher and to make an early start in familiarising themselves with job profiles and VCE requirements

A suitably furnished and equipped Careers’ Room, staffed by several teachers, is central to this important aspect of education. The Careers’ Room contains a wide variety of careers information in books and pamphlets as well as a comprehensive fi le giving details of specific jobs. Course details from tertiary institutions are readily available.
