2016 iPad Program

A reminder that in 2016, Oberon is implementing the Year 7-9 Compulsory iPad program. The information below outlines the purchase options and
the features that will be included:

The Apple iPad has been chosen for a range of features including: ease of use, accessibility, ability to function in a managed environment, cost and
portability. The implementation of this program will enhance the learning experience of our students. It will provide opportunities for innovation and creativity while supporting the excellent academic culture that has already been developed.

There will be two possible paths in preparation for the program:

OPTION A: BRING YOUR OWN IPAD (iPad 2 or above)
Students can bring iPads that they have used at primary school or elsewhere. Protective covers will need to be provided.

OPTION B: PURCHASE THROUGH JB EDUCATION
Oberon has partnered with JB Education, who work with many schools across Victoria, to provide packages including:
• iPad Air 16GB (cost $522.50)
• iPad Air 2 16GB (cost $643.50)
• iPad Air 2 64GB (cost $743.60)
• iPad Air 2 128GB (cost $860.20)
• Choice of 2 protective cover (Optional cost $44-$66. Covers are mandatory, however you are welcome to source your own.)
• Accidental Damage and theft protection for 2 years / 3 years ($90/$135)

JB Education also offer a credit purchase or a rental option if required.

The iPads will be used in conjunction with a digital textbook subscription.
The digital textbook subscription will allow students to access a broader range of texts at a lower cost than the purchase paper texts that are currently used. This subscription will be reflected on the booklist later in the year. A levy will also be included to allow for the purchase of apps and Office 365 subscription. Protocols for use have been developed and will be detailed at the commencement of the program.
